Tie dye experiments

Since painting this Indian palace on the tie dye paper I have decided to try my own tie dye so that I can do more paintings of Asian buildings on tie dye paper. I tried cold water tie dye using several techniques to try and create different patterns onto silk fabric. 

These are the most successful samples. 

Unfortunately many of then didn't come out very well but perhaps I should have let then dry properly before undoing the ties. I will continue trying other methods and also try tie dying paper. 

This tie dyed paper from paperchase still has crease marks where it looks like it has been pleated or folded several times.
