Museum of Science and Industry Archive
I visited the Museum archives for both modules.
I wanted to get research from British fabrics and designs that was inspired from different cultures. I found that English companies supplied to overseas, creating cultural designs to suit their country. I found the names of a few companies to research into the history of.
Paterson Zochonis & Co
This English company had knowledge in african print. They created imitations of African designs using wax printed cotton. Motifs included traditional African motifs combined with the invasion of the Western culture.
Ritchie of Bombay
This English company was based in London and took influences from Indian chintz. It was produced in Britain and shipped to Bombay. The books shown I think must have been a record of the shippings they did each month as on the pages it says the date and shipped to Bombay.
