A few sketchbook pages, research and ideas.
Historical artist Anna Maria Garthwaite inspired me as her designs for silk are all mixed together mainly using florals. I tried to do a similar style using cultural patterns, mixing lots of cultures and designs in bright colours.
Architecture patterns in Islamic and Indian mosques provide a great source of pattern. Here is a sketchbook page inspired by mosques and Chinese fabric mixed together, I hoped to create a eclectic blend of cultures.
